Parish Commissions
ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE ADVISORY COMMISSION
This Commission advises the Pastor and Parish Staff in the care and management of the Parish’s temporal affairs and goods, in a manner that supports Parish ministries and ensures the Parish practices good stewardship of its assets. Specific focus areas for the Commission include budget development, financial controls, and long-range financial planning for the Parish. The Commission typically meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. For a list of commission members, click here.
EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMISSION
The Education Advisory Commission members are elected in the spring and help to shape the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish School so that it is a place where the students are called to share the Good News in words and actions. The Commission meets the fourth Monday of the month (except July) at 7:00 p.m. to deal with school issues and activities, programs and communications of the school in relation to its mission. There are three standing committees: Academic Affairs, Business Affairs, and Community Affairs. While commission members are elected, any active parishioner may serve on the Commission's sub-committees. For a list commission members, click here.
EVANGELIZATION AND CATECHESIS ADVISORY COMMISSION
As a parish community we have the opportunity to support one another on our faith journey; we travel as individuals, to be sure, but we also journey collectively. The Formation Advisory Commission members rise to the challenge of providing support and offering input regarding faith formation opportunities and processes for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Community. Members are appointed in the spring and meet the fourth Monday of the month (except July) at 7:00 p.m. Click here for members of this commission.
HEALTH MINISTRY ADVISORY COMMISSION
The focus of the parish health ministry is on prevention/health promotion and the integration of the body, mind and spirit rather than "hands-on" physical care. This ministry is not a substitute for medical care, community health nursing and social agencies, but works in collaborative partnership with these disciplines to offer education opportunities, a communication network and resources to IHM parishioners. The Health Ministry Advisory Commission, with the Parish Nurse, integrates existing caring programs with new initiatives to create a holistic response, such as educational events focusing on prevention of disease and injury, or screening and appropriate interventions in illness or brokenness. These are designed to foster well-being, regardless of whether the illness or injury is cured. The mission of the commission is to involve the entire parish community in carrying out the healing ministry of Jesus through care of the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the second Monday of every other month, except June, July, and August. For a list of Health Ministry Commission Members, click here. PASTORAL COUNCIL
Council members work in conjunction with the pastor, parish staff, commissions, and committees to oversee ministries and programs that serve the parish, Archdiocese, and universal church. Pastoral Council sets and directs the on-going vision of the parish and coordinates its implementation. The council meets on the third Monday evening of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs of the Annex. More information on Pastoral Council.
SOCIAL MINISTRIES ADVISORY COMMISSION
This commission strives to "involve the parish for world hunger, housing, racial discrimination, migrant workers, women's rights, prison reform, respect life issues, or legislation on social justice." These issues may involve people next door, or halfway around the world; they may involve immediate aid, or long-term efforts to empower others. Most importantly the commission works to involve everyone in the parish in social ministry and action and to help connect people's gifts with needs in the world. The Commission meets the first Monday of every month at 7:15 p.m. For members of the commission, click here. More information on Social Ministries.
STEWARDSHIP ADVISORY COMMISSION
The Commission holds as its mission to teach and nourish the concept of Catholic stewardship as a way of life for all of our parish community. Their goal is to develop a vision for our parish where stewardship is a way of life encompassing family, work, parish and community outreach. Committees include: Renewal of Time, Talent, and Treasure; and Stewardship Education. They meet the second Tuesday of the month (except July) at 7:00 p.m. For a list of members, click here. WORSHIP COMMISSION
The overall purpose of the Worship Advisory Commission is to plan and provide for the spiritual development of each member of the parish through liturgical celebrations on Sundays and major feasts and seasons. Members have a love for and a strong commitment to liturgy and serve on an appointed basis. Spiritual development and the celebration of faith is a continuous process that requires time, effort and dedication. The Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month, September through May, at 7:00 p.m.
