We, The Youth Advisory commission, believe that youth are an integral part of the Body of Christ; therefore we support and advise the youth ministry leadership teams to develop our youth to live their Catholic faith in our parish and the world.
By identifying the priorities of Youth Faith Development as Leadership Development, Advocacy, Prayer and Worship, Pastoral Care, Evangelization, Community, Catechesis, and Social Justice the Commission of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish has as its’ primary purpose to ensure that programming is developed to best address theses needs of our youth.
Some of the functions the Parish Pastoral Council performs include the following:
-
Work towards the ideals set forth in the Parish Mission statement and the YAC Mission Statement.
-
Solicit information from the parish and make appropriate recommendations to the Youth Formation Coordinator and the Pastoral Associate of Evangelization and Catechesis.
-
Make evaluations and recommendations on various components of comprehensive Youth Ministry.
The Youth Advisory Commission is comprised of twelve members who serve a three-year term. Commission members serve overlapping terms, and new members are discerned each year.
Commission meetings are held monthly, usually on the fourth Monday of the month. Parishioners are welcome to attend Commission meetings, and an open forum is part of every meeting. During this period, parishioners may voice an opinion or present a concern.
