The Stewards of Children educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. It is designed for the leadership, staff, parents and volunteers in child-serving agencies and organizations. The curriculum for the three-hour training includes a video, workbook for each participant and group discussion.
The Stewards of Children is a nationally recognized sexual abuse curriculum developed by Darkness to Light, a non-profit organization in Charleston, South Carolina.
Denise Uhl Jenkins will facilitate the Stewards of Children training. Denise is a prevention specialist on the staff of CARE House in Dayton. Denise, certified by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati as a coordinator of religious education, served in three Dayton parishes. She is an authorized Stewards of Children facilitator and instructor of facilitators. Since 1994, she has trained more than 2,300 in a variety of settings that include churches, schools, childcare, youth and social service agencies and organizations. She is an experienced child advocate who is well versed in safety issues related to children and youth.
Certificates of Attendance are provided for those who complete pre and post assessments. Continuing education credit for counselors, educators, nurses and social workers is available by request prior to the training.

CARE House is a community advocacy center for child victims of abuse and neglect. Its mission is to provide a team response to child abuse through prevention, intervention and advocacy.
