PEA Meeting Minutes August 17, 2010 (There was no meeting in July.)
Place: Lourdes Room
Rosary at 1 pm for the intentions of PEA and for our adorers and their families
Present: Steve Green, Pat Tekulve, Grace Schmidlin, Sally Schroder
Quick takes:
Feedback regarding parking for adorers during festival: We had reserved parking in the half circle. No feedback.
Kneeler replacement materials/lights on statues update: We are waiting for the materials to come. Dave Auxier is working on both of the above.
Steve Green reported that Brad Puckett knows about the light that is burned out outside the chapel area and will replace it soon.
Materials in chapel: 101 Eucharistic Miracles is missing. We hope it will be returned. In the meantime, Pat Tekulve may have a similar one from home that we can use. We will make sure that the materials we authorize have a brown PEA logo on each. Materials brought in by adorers will be removed and returned to the Lost and Found in the Fatima Room. The 15 Minutes with Jesus booklet will be replaced with new ones and the old ones will be given to Patrick Reis for the Youth Ministry’s use.
Stewardship Prayer: Sue Grethel sent a prayer to all ministries. We prayed it after our August meeting and will pray it at our September meeting.
Photo in Heart Beat: John Szuscik was generous in giving of his time to take a photo of the PEA core team. It was submitted to Jayne Simms for the September Heart Beat.
Materials in the New Parishioner packets: PEA submitted a glossy Eucharistic Adoration pamphlet with an insert inviting new parishioners to become adorers.
Coordinators’ report: Drops: 5 Adds: 1 Changes: 2 Temporarily out due to illness: 2 Total # of Adorers: approximately 408
Amy Oliva is a new sub who can help out the following times: M,T, W, Fri 9-3 pm, Thu 8-10 am, and on Saturday and Sundays. (This information is on the web site.)
Questions: Does every adorer have a new Hourly Chart? Status of captains? Needs?
Comments from DLs:
Morning: Thu at 11 am Need 2 Pat Tekulve will check on two of her ill adorers to see if they want to be temporarily out or drop.
Afternoon: Fri at 2 pm: Need 2 No report.
Evening: Welcome, Mrs. Barb Smith, as our new Evening Division leader. Barb is also our 11 pm captain and has been for many years. She will begin at the end of August. Please email Sally or call Grace Schmidlin if you have any questions, etc. before that time. We are blessed to have Barb coming on board with us!
Comments: Some “new” adorers may need welcome materials which are in the Fatima Room in a basket on the counter as you enter to the right. Pick up a packet after any Sunday Mass. If you have an interested friend, take one for them!
Midnight: No changes.
Pat: For Captains, please keep in touch with your adorers especially when you notice he/she has stopped coming. It’s often due to illness: A holy hour “Gift of Love” card (in the basket on the ‘give away’ table), a note, a phone call or email.. just to say we are thinking of you and praying… It means so much and they will be more likely to return when they are well.
How is the coverage going with all of the funerals? Barb Wasserman has been willing to expose and repose as she also is part of the Bereavement ministry. Thank you and God bless you, Barb!
Tracking revisited: IMPORTANT! Captains, if you haven’t tracked in a while, please do this as your earliest convenience. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, you can take a recent section out of the Sign in book (excluding the most recent couple of pages) and relax in the Fatima Room while you ‘track’ the attendance of your adorers. It is important to know who is coming and not coming and to have an accurate record of our adorers so our charts are correct. We have promised to keep Our Lord company and this is the best way to make sure our hours are covered. Thank you so much for going the extra mile!
Exposition/reposition: How is this going? Dave Auxier will lift the monstrance when he is present at Mass and Steve will take care of the other times. In recent years while school is in session, we have had 7th and 8th graders on Thursdays lift the monstrance. This year, the PEA team recommends only 8th graders who are very strong who can lift from the pew to the placement on the top of the tabernacle. Sally will contact Brother Edward for his thoughts.
Bob Bolubasz has requested a key and fob for Friday evening reposition. We are waiting for word from Dave A.
Chapel Notes: Include: Welcome letter to new adorers, Elijah Cup *, Oral Prayer explanation. What else? Sally will call Denise Mullarkey to check for a deadline.
*Deacon Bill has asked PEA to invite our adorers to please sign up for a week of praying for vocations by receiving the Elijah cup at Mass beginning in December. Email Bill at: wmullaney@roadrunner.com if you would like more information or to sign up for a week. We will place a tent card on the Sign in table as we get closer.
Oral Prayer: Suggestions/changes: Psalm 139 and prayer which he Hail Holy Queen prayer. Petitions will include one for teachers and students. Thoughts for bulletins in September: Explain a little bit about Oral Prayer and invite all to join us.
Other:
Floral displays for the chapel for high holy days: Tabled.
FYI: Carol Braun is the new chair of the Worship Commission.
Steve Green is one of six parishioners witnessing at Sunday Mass on stewardship.
